In this message, we begin a series on Vitamin D.

Vitamin D3 – The Rest Of The Story

We live in a day when man too often thinks he knows it all, sometimes even more than God! Yet in some areas, even we, who know the truth regarding God’s Creation, are just beginning to understand what a unique creation man is and the incredible intricacies of our bodies:
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works: and that my soul knoweth right well. (Psalm 139:14)
I’m so glad I know my origin –
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”. (Genesis 1:1)
And I’m glad to know even how God created me and what he created for me:
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul”. (Genesis 2:7)
For over 6,000 years mankind has appreciated the sun for its provision of light and warmth. One of the days of the week was even named after the sun – “Sunday.”
And there was even a time when man worshiped the sun:
“…with their backs toward the temple of the Lord, and their faces toward the east; they worshipped the sun…” (Ezekiel 8:16)
Throughout history, from Adam and Eve to most of our grandparents (or at least most of our great grandparents), exposure to the sun was an almost a daily experience as man labored in the sunlight for his sustenance. Mankind grew his food and as a gardener, he was naturally exposed to the sun’s rays.
Then came World War II, when many of these farm folks, especially the women folk, left the farms for the factories, as their men went off to war. As a result, most of these farm people lost contact with the sun because they were living and working indoors where very little exposure to the rays of the sun was possible.
This lack of exposure to the sun’s rays became even more pronounced when doctors told men and women, as well as their children, that they should avoid sun exposure for fear of developing melanoma cancers. Then the manufacturers of sunscreens told us we must use their products to protect ourselves from the sun’s harmful rays.
All these events have taken us further and further away from natural sun exposure, and as a result we have seen a serious deterioration in the health of people. But now, we are just beginning to realize that exposing our skin to the sun is an absolute essential if we are to protect ourselves from germs, viruses and bacteria and experience the ultimate health God designed for mankind.

Science Is Just Now Catching Up With God

Vitamin D produced by the sun may be the single most powerful protector of the body’s health. The way this works is that the raw material the body needs to produce essential Vitamin D3 are provided by the Vitamin D-rich UVB rays of the sun shining on the skin of the body.
God knew what He was doing when He created that first man (Adam), placed him in a garden, where daily exposure to the sun took place. Then after the “fall” God told Adam he would henceforth have to earn his bread [food] by the “sweat of thy face” as he labored in the sun to remove the weeds“thorns and thistles” from the garden. (See Genesis 3:18-19)
This time spent in the garden to produce his food required long periods of sun exposure and this exposure to the sun provided the body with vitamin D-3, which in turn provided the immune system with the wherewithal to protect the body from germs, viruses and bacteria. Yes, God had it right from the very beginning. Too bad man has been such a slow learner!

What We Have Recently Learned about Vitamin D3

When UVB rays strike the skin, they trigger biochemical reactions in the deeper cells that generate huge amounts of Vitamin D. Prolonged sun exposure causes the skin to tan which provides a natural sunscreen and reduces the amount of Vitamin D being produced, thus preventing an overdose.
However, excessive sun exposure before tanning takes place can cause the burning of the skin which is dangerousand must be guarded against.
Before Vitamin D from the sun can do its intended task within the body, it must first be converted into its biologically active form. The kidneys are the primary organ that accomplishes this. After this conversion, the body is able to recognize and use it.
Once Vitamin D is active in the cells, its primary role is to help regulate body functions on the level of gene transcription, the process by which genetic information is copied from DNA to RNA. Vitamin D has a tremendous effect on the genes and telling them what to do. For instance, adequate Vitamin D is essential for healthy skin and hair growth.
If Vitamin D is lacking, it can result in an autoimmune reaction that makes a person’s hair fall out or the disruption of skin pigmentation. Many are experiencing excessive hair loss today because of inadequate levels of Vitamin D, as well as a lack of healthy oils being in the diet.
Because so many cells throughout the body are dependent on Vitamin D in order to carry out their intended tasks, adequate Vitamin D is a necessity for long term SURVIVAL.
This activated Vitamin D in the skin turns on antioxidants and these antioxidants, in turn, deactivate free radicals. This is the body’s natural defense mechanism, and it works very well for over 90% of people if the process is not interfered with by man’s use of sun blockers or aversion to sun exposure.
The body depends on Vitamin D to help launch an immune system response to foreign invaders. For instance, immune cells use Vitamin D to produce germ-killing compounds called cathelicidin, which in turn kills bacteria. Without Vitamin D the immune system is incapable of performing its God-given task.
This sunshine vitamin suppresses excessive and inappropriate behavior of immune cells, thus helping to reduce inflammation. A solid case has been made that adequate Vitamin D is crucial in preventing excessive inflammation, which is a part of all aging diseases. Vitamin D has also been shown to not only help prevent such problems as arthritis, autoimmune diseases, type I diabetes, and inflammatory bowel disease, but also to improve these conditions.
There is not a drug on the market that can perform these tasks.

Lack of Vitamin D Allows Cancers to Grow

When cancer strikes, it implies that cell division is out of control, and just as we learned Vitamin D is needed by immune cells so that they don’t become hyperactive, so also is Vitamin D necessary to help regulate cell growth.
Recent research reveals that Vitamin D partners with the antioxidant defense system to help clear the body of free radicals, thereby protecting them from DNA damage that can lead to inappropriate mutation.
Vitamin D is smart, smart enough to know enough not to protect cancer cells. Researchers at the University of Rochester Medical Center had this to say about Vitamin D: “Our findings reflect what we see in those studies and demonstrate that vitamin D not only can be used as a therapy for prostate cancer, it can actually prevent prostate cancer from happening.”
Recent colon cancer research reveals that vitamin D turns on death signals in colon cancer cells and works synergistically with calcium to help prevent colon cancer cells from spreading.
German study reported on in the American Journal of Epidemiology has proven that low levels of Vitamin D in premenopausal women are associated with an increased risk of breast cancer.
It appears that Vitamin D is the most powerful weapon that exists to protect the body from cancer development by preventing maverick cells from mutating into cancer cells. In light of these findings, some doctors are beginning to give cancer patients massive doses of Vitamin D in an effort to assist the body in its battle to naturally overcome the cancer.

Vitamin D Deficiency Involved in Diabetes

It is common knowledge that Vitamin D helps in the release of insulin from the pancreas. Thus a lack of Vitamin D increases the risk for type 1 diabetes and is likely involved with the insulin and leptin resistance that eventually leads to type 2 diabetes.
Those who live in Finland, where the rays of the sun are very weak, find that the risk of type 1 diabetes increases 400%. A birth-cohort study in Oulu and Lapland, Finland reveals that children who consistently took 2000 IU of Vitamin D daily had a 78% reduction risk of type 1 diabetes.
Correcting Vitamin D deficiency in people who are overweight has been shown to help prevent type 2 diabetes, too. If a person is struggling with their weight or the health of their pancreas this may be an indication that there is a deficiency of Vitamin D.

Vitamin D Adequacy Necessary for Heart Health

Researchers at the University of Michigan have nick-named Vitamin D “the heart tranquilizer” because it helps keep the heart from working too hard and swelling in size. Their findings indicate that the sunshine vitamin can even help prevent heart failure.
Blood flow to the extremities has also been shown to improve when Vitamin D levels are adequate, helping to improve what researchers call peripheral artery disease (PAD). When scientists at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in New York evaluated 4,839 adults, they found those with the best Vitamin D levels had the least amount of PAD.

Vitamin D Affects Brain Health

In older adults, low blood levels of Vitamin D are associated with depression. An interesting study chaired by Marian L. Evatt, MD, of the Emory University School of Medicine and the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center compared Vitamin D levels in older Americans with Parkinson’s’ disease. The study revealed 55% of them had low levels of Vitamin D.


Government recommendations for Vitamin D intake are much too low, especially during the winter months when even if the body is exposed to sunlight, in most latitudes there is simply not enough sunshine to provide adequate levels of Vitamin D. Therefore it is imperative that a supplemental form of Vitamin D be taken on a daily basis in order to keep the immune system functioning optimally.
Rhonda and this editor take 5000 IU of Vitamin D3 daily year-round. Sometimes in the summertime, if our bodies are receiving a lot of sun due to outdoor activities, we will stop taking Vitamin D supplements for a time. Children need 1,000 to 2,000 IU daily, while dark-skinned people need a greater amount of sun exposure to assure adequate Vitamin D.
If you choose to supplement, make sure it is with Vitamin D3 and not with Vitamin D2 which does not offer the same protection. (D2 is not the active form but is often prescribed by physicians.)

95 percent of American parents sacrifice their young children to the vaccine industry

(NaturalNews) Though all 50 U.S. states recognize the natural human right of individuals to refuse otherwise compulsory vaccinations on the basis of religious, philosophical, or medical reasons -- some states recognize all three reasons as valid -- 95 percent of American parents still go along with the federal government's recommended vaccine schedule for their children with no questions asked.

According to a new report issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 93.2 percent of all incoming kindergarteners for the 2011-12 school year were vaccinated with the recommended two doses of chickenpox vaccine, while more than 95 percent were vaccinated for diphtheria, tetanus, acellular pertussis, polio, hepatitis B, and the combination measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine, the latter of which is implicated in causing autism.

Mississippi, the only U.S. state that does not allow vaccine exemptions for either religious or philosophical reasons -- only for medical reasons -- had a statewide total of only 16 kindergarten vaccine exemptions for the 2011-12 school year, representing a virtually 100 percent vaccination rate. Washington state, on the other hand, which recognizes vaccine exemptions for medical, religious, and philosophical reasons, had a vaccine exemption rate of 6.2 percent, the highest among the 50 U.S. states.

Between the 2009-10 school year and the 2011-12 school year, Arkansas saw the most dramatic increase in vaccine exemptions among kindergarteners with a 650 percent overall increase. Nebraska, on the other hand, witnessed a more than 50 percent drop in vaccine exemptions between 2009-10 and 2011-12.

Politicians, public health officials trying to eliminate vaccine exemption provisions across the country

As more and more parents awaken to the fact that many of the recommended vaccines are extremely dangerous and could cause permanent damage in their children, the vaccine industry via its political and public health puppets is desperately trying to alter or eliminate vaccine exemption provisions in various states across the country.

Public health officials in New Mexico, for instance, recently altered their state's vaccine exemption form to prohibit parents from citing philosophical reasons for refusing to vaccinate their children (http://www.wjtv.com). And officials in California recently passed a bill that requires parents in the state who choose to protect their children against vaccines to first meet with a health care provider so they can be indoctrinated with pro-vaccine dogma. As can be expected, most American parents are not even aware that they can exempt their children from vaccines because school officials, public health authorities, and others routinely lie to them and claim that vaccines are mandatory. If more parents knew that they possess an inalienable right to refuse having their children poisoned with live viral fragments, toxic adjuvant chemicals, and heavy metals, the 95 percent vaccination rate in the U.S. would likely drop significantly.

The vaccine industry refuses to manufacture "clean" vaccines for the masses

British royalty are given special "clean" vaccines that contain none of these metals. The same is undoubtedly true with the global elite who eat all non-GMO, organic produce.

The chemicals are intended for the masses. Whether it's genetically modified food, pesticide-contaminated food or vaccines laced with mercury and MSG, the public is being poisoned by design.

The purpose of this poisoning is two-fold: 1) To keep the population subsisting in a never-ending state of chronic disease in order to enrich the drug companies. And 2) To reduce the population through vaccine-induced infertility and abortions.

A Hallelujah twist on a holiday classic!


  • 1½ cups vegetable soup stock
  • 1 vegetable bouillon cube
  • ¼ cup nutritional yeast (optional but adds a cheesy flavor)
  • 1 Tbsp coconut oil
  • ½ medium onion (diced)
  • ¾ cup mushrooms (diced and optional)
  • 1 small garlic clove (peeled and minced)
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp dried marjoram
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp dried sage
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp unrefined salt (Celtic or Himalayan)
  • Pinch of cayenne
  • 2 Tbsp arrowroot powder or aluminum-free cornstarch
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp cold water
  • 1 package of frozen French Cut green beans (thawed)
  • 1 canister of vegan French Fried Onions (French’s brand has a minimal ingredient list)


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Prepare all vegetables and have spices and other ingredients ready. 
  3. In a Vitamix or other high powered blender, place soup stock, bouillon cube, and nutritional yeast. Blend until the bouillon cube disintegrates. Pour into saucepan and heat but do not boil. 
  4. Place the onions and mushrooms in a skillet, with the coconut oil and sauté until the onions are translucent. Add the herbs and spices and mix well.
  5. Make a thickener by combining arrowroot or aluminum free cornstarch and cold water; mix well.
  6. Pour into the bouillon mixture while stirring with a whisk as it will immediately begin to gel. 
  7. Quickly add the green beans, the sautéed veggies, and about half of the French fried onions; stir well.
  8. Pour that mixture into a casserole and top with remaining French fried onions.
  9. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the French fried onions begin to brown.
  10. Remove from oven and serve while still hot from the oven.

Cellphone radiation during pregnancy does harm your baby: study

Cellphone radiation exposure during pregnancy impacts fetal brain development and may cause hyperactivity, Yale School of Medicine researchers say.

Dr. Hugh Taylor, a medical professor and chief of Yale's Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, co-authored a recent study to probe the impact of cellphone exposure on pregnancies, according to Daily Mail online.
'We had pregnant mice in cages and we just simply put a cellphone on top of the cage. In half the mice, the cellphone was active and in half of the ... cages the cellphone was turned off so it wasn't transmitting a signal at all,' Taylor said.
Taylor said the researchers allowed the mice to give birth and waited until offspring were young adults before behaviors were tested.
'The mice exposed to cellphones were more active,' Taylor said. 'Their memory was slightly decreased ... these mice were basically bouncing off the walls and didn't have a care in the world,' Daily Mail online reports.
Taylor says the study shows there is a "biological basis" to suggest cellphone exposure can impact pregnancies. He says he is encouraging patients to be cautious with devices and recommends pregnant women hold phones away from the body.
Cellphone manufacturers, including Blackberry and Apple, also say consumers should keep devices away from the body due to potential safety risks but these warnings often go unnoticed because they are featured in device manuals.
Davis' organization has been pushing governments around the world to take action on cellphone safety.
'While it may be legal for companies to show advertisements of phones being used in ways that are not recommended, it is not ethical,' she said. 'When they sell phones to people, and they tell them in fine print to not use them next to the body, and then all their advertisements show them using cellphones exactly next to the body ... I think that is really a profound disconnect that people ought to be aware of.'
The world now has almost as many cellphone subscriptions as inhabitants, according to recent numbers published by the UN telecom agency.
In 2011, the World Health Organization's cancer arm said cellphones could cause cancer and called for more research, according to Daily Mail online.
Some other countries around the world, including France, have banned companies from advertising cellphones to children due to the possible risks.

Aspartame is linked to leukemia and lymphoma in new landmark study on humans

(NaturalNews) As few as one diet soda daily may increase the risk for leukemia in men and women, and for multiple myeloma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma in men, according to new results from the longest-ever running study on aspartame as a carcinogen in humans. Importantly, this is the most comprehensive, long-term study ever completed on this topic, so it holds more weight than other past studies which appeared to show no risk. And disturbingly, it may also open the door for further similar findings on other cancers in future studies.

The most thorough study yet on aspartame - Over two million person-years

For this study, researchers prospectively analyzed data from the Nurses' Health Study and the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study for a 22-year period. A total of 77,218 women and 47,810 men were included in the analysis, for a total of 2,278,396 person-years of data. Apart from sheer size, what makes this study superior to other past studies is the thoroughness with which aspartame intake was assessed. Every two years, participants were given a detailed dietary questionnaire, and their diets were reassessed every four years. Previous studies which found no link to cancer only ever assessed participants' aspartame intake at one point in time, which could be a major weakness affecting their accuracy.

One diet soda a day increases leukemia, multiple myeloma and non-Hodgkin lymphomas

The combined results of this new study showed that just one 12-fl oz. can (355 ml) of diet soda daily leads to:

- 42 percent higher leukemia risk in men and women (pooled analysis)
- 102 percent higher multiple myeloma risk (in men only)
- 31 percent higher non-Hodgkin lymphoma risk (in men only)

These results were based on multi-variable relative risk models, all in comparison to participants who drank no diet soda. It is unknown why only men drinking higher amounts of diet soda showed increased risk for multiple myeloma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Note that diet soda is the largest dietary source of aspartame (by far) in the U.S. Every year, Americans consume about 5,250 tons of aspartame in total, of which about 86 percent (4,500 tons) is found in diet sodas.

Confirmation of previous high quality research on animals

This new study shows the importance of the quality of research. Most of the past studies showing no link between aspartame and cancer have been criticized for being too short in duration and too inaccurate in assessing long-term aspartame intake. This new study solves both of those issues. The fact that it also shows a positive link to cancer should come as no surprise, because a previous best-in-class research study done on animals (900 rats over their entire natural lifetimes) showed strikingly similar results back in 2006: aspartame significantly increased the risk for lymphomas and leukemia in both males and females. More worrying is the follow on mega-study, which started aspartame exposure of the rats at the fetal stage. Increased lymphoma and leukemia risks were confirmed, and this time the female rats also showed significantly increased breast (mammary) cancer rates. This raises a critical question: will future, high-quality studies uncover links to the other cancers in which aspartame has been implicated (brain, breast, prostate, etc.)?

There is now more reason than ever to completely avoid aspartame in our daily diet. For those who are tempted to go back to sugary sodas as a "healthy" alternative, this study had a surprise finding: men consuming one or more sugar-sweetened sodas daily saw a 66 percent increase in non-Hodgkin lymphoma (even worse than for diet soda). Perhaps the healthiest soda is no soda at all.

No-Bake Apple Walnut Tart recipe

This apple tart is a Reader favorite. The healthy date and nut crust allows you to indulge in a delicious healthy dessert without compromising flavor. And one serving of this tart provides an excellent source of those hard-to-find, healthy-promoting omega-3 fatty acids. Enjoy!
No-Bake Apple Walnut TartPrep and Cook Time: 30 minutes, chilling time: about 1 hour

  • Crust
  • 2-1/2 cups walnuts
  • 1-1/2 cups dates (Medjool dates work well)
  • sea salt to taste
  • Filling
  • 3 green apples, such as Granny Smith, sliced
  • juice of 1 lemon in 2 cups water
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/8 tsp ground clove
  • 2 TBS honey
  • 1/2 cup apple juice
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  1. Combine walnuts and dates in food processor. Make sure you remove pits if dates have them and cut off end where stem was. Process until well mixed and ground, but not smooth (about 40 seconds). It should be a coarse texture when done. Press evenly into a 9-inch tart pan. Set in refrigerator while making the filling.
  2. Slice apples by cutting into quarters. Cut out core and slice crosswise in 1/4 inch thick slices. Put into lemon water while you finish cutting apples. Drain well in colander when done.
  3. Place apples in a large skillet with rest of the ingredients and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently on medium heat.
  4. Remove apples with a slotted spoon from hot pan to a bowl and cool completely.
  5. Reduce liquid to about half the volume and then cool.
