Peruvian Quinoa Stew recipe

Serves 4
Total time: 35 minutes

½ cup quinoa
1 cup water
2 cups chopped onions
2 garlic cloves, minced or pressed
1 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 celery stalk, chopped
1 carrot, cut on the diagonal into ¼-inch thick slices
1 bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 cup cubed zucchini
2 cups un drained chopped fresh or canned tomatoes
1 cup water or vegetable stock
2 teaspoons ground cumin
½ teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground coriander
Pinch of cayenne (or more to taste)
2 teaspoon fresh oregano (OR) 1 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt to taste

Chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
Grated Cheddar (OR) Monterey Jack cheese (optional)

Rinse quinoa well with cold water. Use a fine mesh filter or coffee filter. If you're a klutz like me use the fine mesh filter or a lot of quinoa is going to wind up in the sink!

Quinoa is coated with a natural substance called saponin that protects the grain by repelling insects and birds. Rinsing the quinoa is important to avoid a raw or bitter taste. You can tell if there is saponin by the production of a soapy looking "suds" when the seeds are swished in water.

Good news! If you are using Ancient Harvest Quinoa you can skip this step. It's already rinsed!

Place rinsed quinoa and water in pot (covered) and cook covered on medium-low heat for about 15 minutes until soft.

While the quinoa is cooking place the onions, garlic and vegetable oil in covered soup pot and saute on medium heat for 5 minutes

And celery and carrots to the soup pot and cook an additional 5 minutes, stirring often

Add the bell pepper, zucchini, tomatoes, and one cup water or vegetable stock to soup pot. Stir in cumin, chili powder, coriander, cayenne and oregano to soup pot simmer covered for 10 to 15 minutes until vegetables are tender.

Stir in cooked quinoa and salt to taste.

Top with grated cheese (and optionally chopped cilantro - See cilantro note below)

Serve immediately.

Optional Ingredient for Peruvian Quinoa Stew (Quinoa Vegetarian Stew)...
Chopped Cilantro.

This is my standard cilantro warning...
Exercise caution on this ingredient. There are two kinds of people - those who love cilantro and those who hate cilantro. Nobody is in between. So, if you know you like cilantro go for it! If you don't know whether you like it add it at your own risk. You might break some leaves off of fresh cilantro in the grocery store. Crush it between your thumb and finger and smell it. If it smells good you're probably a cilantro lover. If it smells like old gym shoes you probably hate it. My advice? Try the quinoa stew without it and see how you like it. Or, since you're adding it at the end as a topping, just try a little and see how it goes.

The World’s Diet Is Dangerously High In Cooked Food

For the past seven weeks, we have been sharing the reasons why the ‘World’s Diet’ is such a dangerous diet.

In this Health Tip we are going to examine another danger found in the World’s Diet, a danger so subtle most would never consider it suspect: cooked food.

The Sun – Both A Sustainer & Destroyer of Life
“The Dangers of Cooked Food” begin in Genesis chapter 1. From this chapter I want to glean a few nuggets that will help lay the groundwork for what will follow.

On the third day of creation, in Genesis 1:9-10, we read how God created the earth. In the following verses, verses 11-13, we read how God created the fruits and vegetables, seeds and nuts, the very foods God designed our physical bodies to be nourished with and to thrive upon:

“AND GOD SAID, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb [vegetable] yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb [vegetable] yielding seed after his kind; and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day.”

Without a source of light and heat, plant life could not be sustained. So, the very next day, on Day 4, God creates the sun and the moon to provide light and heat to sustain the plant life He had created the day before:

AND GOD SAID, Let there be light in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so, And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.” (Genesis 1:14-17)

Have You Ever Thought About This?
If the earth was in an orbit that was only slightly closer to the sun, or if the earth’s circumference was only slightly greater, the earth would not be able to sustain LIFE. Why? Because the heat from the sun would destroy all plant, animal, and human forms of life.

Conversely, if the earth was in an orbit only slightly further from the sun, or if the earth’s circumference was only slightly less, the earth would not be able to sustain the plant, animal, and human life God had created. Why? Because everything would freeze to death!

Let’s look at a few other verses revealing the awesome wisdom of our God:

“ . . . All things were created by Him, and for Him: and He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.”
Colossians 1:16-17

“Nevertheless He left not Himself without witness, in that He did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and the fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”
Acts 14:17

Could All This Have Happened By Chance?
How anyone could believe that all this precision happened just by chance, as those who teach and believe in evolution proclaim, is beyond my comprehension.

No my friend, it was God who hung the earth in just the exact place in the universe so that the earth could support plant, animal, and yes human LIFE!

No other planet or star has this precise placement in the universe!

Sadly, man has wasted billions of taxpayer dollars on space exploration in an effort to find life on other planets, but without success. Nor will man ever find life on another planet, because the Bible tells us in Genesis 3:20 that Eve is “the mother of all living.”

How High Temperatures Affect Life
Have you ever considered the affect high temperatures have upon the human physical body?

For instance, if a person has a fever of 104 degrees Fahrenheit, do we not become concerned? Of course we do! But what if the temperature goes up to 106 degrees? Do we not at that temperature become extremely concerned? Why?

Because when the internal temperature of the human physical body reaches 107 degrees, brain cells begin to scramble and die, and by the time the internal temperature reaches 108 degrees, the person is usually dead.

High temperatures have a very devastating effect on the very life of the human physical body!

How High Temperatures Affect Our Food
High temperatures also affect the life of the foods we eat.

For instance, at approximately 107 degrees Fahrenheit, the enzymes — which are the life force found in raw fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts — begin to break down, and by 122 degrees that food has become a dead food, devoid of ALL life forms.

Yet, before most of the foods we eat today are consumed, they are heated to high temperatures. For instance, the temperature of boiling water is 212 degrees Fahrenheit; the temperature of steam is also 212 degrees; while the temperature of a slow oven begins at about 225 or 250 degrees.

All packaged, canned, or bottled foods found on the grocery store shelf have been exposed to high heat to destroy the enzymes (life force) so that the food will not spoil.

Pasteurized milk is heated to 160 degrees, while all bottled fruit and vegetable juices receive similar heating. Even frozen vegetables have been blanched in very hot water to destroy any form of life.

Living Bodies Need Living Foods
The physical body we each possess is a living organism, comprised of living cells, designed by God to be nourished with living food. All cooked food is dead food and therefore incapable of properly nourishing living cells.

When we look to nature, every animal in the wild – carnivorous or vegetarian – eats its food raw (in an uncooked form) just as God designed and they thrive. Only man takes living food (which God provides in its raw state in nature) and cooks it. Doing so destroys its life force, and thus its ability to properly nourish the living, human body.

All the foods Adam and Eve consumed in the Garden of Eden were in their raw, uncooked, living form.

How Heat Destroys Life: A Home Experiment
It is not difficult to prove that high heat destroys the life forms found in raw fruits, vegetables, seeds and nuts. Here is a little experiment you can perform in your own home:

Go to the store and purchase five raw carrots.
At home, cut off about ½ an inch below the stem end, place it in a shallow basin of water, and watch it grow. (And, yes it will grow because its life force has not been destroyed by high heat.)
Next take the remaining four raw carrots and cook each one by a different means: boil one, steam one, bake one, and microwave one.
Take each cooked carrot out of its heat source; cut off ½ inch from the stem end of each; place them in a shallow basin of water and watch them grow(?).
Will they grow? Of course not! Why not?

Because the high temperatures of cooking them have destroyed all enzymes or life force.

Dr. Pottenger’s Research
One of the best known studies regarding the effects of high heat upon foods was a 10-year research project conducted by Dr. Francis M. Pottenger, Jr. His study was published in 1945 in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Oral Surgery.

Dr. Pottenger took 900 cats and fed all the same foods for nine years, the only difference being that he divided the cats into two groups. One group was given their food in its raw and uncooked form, while the other group received cooked form.

The results dramatically revealed the damaging effect cooking has upon food.

The cats that were fed their food raw, in its living form, produced healthy kittens year after year, with no ill health, birthing defects, or premature deaths.

While the cats fed the same food only cooked, developed heart disease, cancer, kidney and thyroid disease, pneumonia, paralysis, loss of teeth, arthritis, birthing difficulties, diminished sexual interest, diarrhea, irritability, liver problems, osteoporosis, and more (the same diseases common in our present day human cooked food culture).

Also, the first generation of kittens fed cooked food was sick and abnormal, the second generation was often born diseased or dead, and by the third generation, the mothers were sterile.

Humans Are Now Experiencing Dr. Pottenger’s Cat Experiment
Sadly, many of the results Dr. Pottenger observed in his cat experiments are being experienced today in our human population.

For instance, with each succeeding generation of cats fed exclusively cooked food, fewer and fewer were able to produce offspring. The Standard American Diet consumed today consists of almost totally cooked foods. Could this be the reason some 40% of young adults cannot conceive?

When I was a child back in the 1930s the only people I remember having arthritis were the elderly who often needed a cane or walking stick to assist them in walking. Today, arthritis is not just an affliction of the elderly, but an ever increasing number of children are being diagnosed with juvenile arthritis.

Diabetes used to be a disease of the elderly and unheard of in children, but today juvenile diabetes is epidemic. When I was a child, cancer was something that only the elderly experienced, but today, after accidents, cancer is the number one cause of death among the youth of our country.

What Is Going On?
Why are our young people experiencing serious degenerative diseases at an ever-earlier age?

And why are an ever increasing number of our young adults unable to produce offspring?

Might the cooking of almost all the foods being consumed today be a major part of the problem?

For a moment, let’s go back to Dr. Pottenger’s experiment with the cats and see what we can learn: The longer the cats were fed a completely cooked food diet, the sooner they experienced physical breakdown.

The Standard American Diet (SAD) being consumed today is predominantly a cooked food diet, and thus lacking the necessary life force and living building materials necessary to produce and maintain vibrant, human life.

This editor contends that one of the primary reasons for human physical breakdown in all ages is the same reason the cats experienced these breakdowns in Dr. Pottenger’s cat experiment – a diet comprised almost totally of cooked food.

Today, the average person in America, as well as those in most countries around the world, is consuming a primarily dead food diet.

The Standard American Diet, loaded with all kinds of chemical additives, fails to provide the physical body with the building materials necessary to sustain a vibrantly alive and healthy physical body.

God Had It Right
God Himself gave Adam and Eve the ideal human diet in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 1:29). Were it not for sin, that diet was intended to properly nourish Adam’s and Eve’s physical bodies and keep them thriving forever. “. . . . lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever.” (Genesis 3:22)

Although it is no longer possible to live forever in these physical bodies we possess, we can extend our life on earth in a healthy manner by taking advantage of God’s instructions in Genesis 1:29 — eating a primarily raw, living foods, 100%-plant based diet.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect, will of God.”
Romans 12:1-2

I was raised on (and lived the first 42 years of my life on) an almost 100% cooked food diet.

As a result, I suffered all manner of physical breakdown and was told I had colon cancer at age 42.

Cancer was my wake-up call. It caused me to seek an alternative to the traditional cancer treatments that had killed my mom.

In my search for an alternative means of overcoming my cancer, I turned to Evangelist Lester Roloff who encouraged me to consume exclusively the raw plant foods found in God’s Genesis 1:29 diet and to drink a lot of raw, unprocessed carrot juice. That change in diet from a dead food diet to a living foods diet saved my life and totally changed my life.

For the past 36 years, on a predominantly living foods, raw, plant-based diet, my body has thrived. I haven’t had a cold or the flu since making the diet change and now, just two years shy of my 80th birthday, I am only five years from outliving the most senior person in my known ancestral line.

NOTE: When I first made the diet change, I went 100% raw for the first year, but personal experience and the testimonies from hundreds of others who had a problem with 100% raw has caused me to now discourage a 100% raw plant source diet. My diet today, and for the past 35 years, has consisted of approximately 85% raw plant sourced foods and about 15% cooked plant sourced foods. I have learned that, though that original Genesis 1:29 diet was 100% raw, for many reasons most people can stick to a plant-based diet easier when they cook 15% of the food.

The World’s Diet – Dangerously High In Refined Sugar

Over the last several weeks, we have been learning about the shortcomings and dangers of the world’s diet.

In this Health Tip we are going to examine a substance that makes up a high percentage of the world’s diet — and discover why it is so dangerous to your health.

Refined Sugar Is A Dead, Fiberless Poison
Refined sugar is not a food substance at all. It is a dangerous poison that is consumed by almost every man, woman, and child, in large quantities, on a daily basis.

It is a dead (contains no enzymatic activity), fiberless, and good-for-nothing killer that creates monumental problems within the body.

Refined sugar is something God never intended our physical bodies to consume.

The only sugar God designed our physical bodies to ever have to deal with are the natural sugars found in the living (enzymatically alive), raw fruits and vegetables God created for us in the Garden!

Only 100 years ago, the average annual intake of refined sugar was approximately 5 pounds per person per year. Today, the average annual intake of refined sugar is around 172 pounds per person per year.

This means that if a person is consuming the Standard American Diet (SAD), that person is placing into their God-made physical bodies approximately 50 teaspoons of refined sugar, each and every day of their life.

If a person lives to the age of 80, they will have during their lifetime placed into their body some 13,760 pounds of refined sugar.

My friends that means that the average person on the “world’s diet” consumes nearly 7 tons of refined sugar in their lifetime.

That amount, 13,760 pounds, equals 2,752 five-pound bags of refined sugar.

Can you visualize what 2,752 five pound bags of refined sugar looks like when in the grocery store there are usually no more than ten 5-pound bags on the shelf?

Refined Sugar Is A Dead Food
All refined sugars originated as a natural, unrefined sugar in a living plant. As such, natural sugars contain a complete complement of enzymes, nutrients and fiber, just as God intended.

By the time natural sugar reaches its refined sugar stage, all nutrients have been removed, all enzymes destroyed, and all fiber removed.

As such, refined sugar is a very dead and toxic substance.

Let’s look for a moment at the process of taking sugar cane or sugar beet in its nutrient rich, fiber rich, enzymatically alive state as found in the plant, into a refined, fiberless, lifeless, nutrient-devoid product.

The following information was taken from a newsletter written by Charlotte Gerson of the world-famous Gerson Clinic:

“Sugar is a basic element in starchy food; however, processed sugar is a completely different matter. The sugar we purchase in the supermarket for personal consumption is processed sugar. This kind of sugar is heated up in chalk-milk, so that calcium and protein are extracted. After the process, it becomes alkaloid, destroying all vitamin content. In the second phase the sugar is mixed with acid chalk, carbonic gas, sulfur dioxide and finally with natrium bicarbonate. The mixture is cooked and cooled off several times and thereafter crystallized and centrifuged. The dead mass is then treated with strontium hydroxide. Subsequently it arrives at the refinery where it is passed over chalk carbon acid to clean it. Dark coloring is removed by adding sulfuric acid and then it is filtered with bone charcoal. Finally, it is colored with Indathrenblue or the highly toxic Ultramarine. This product’s chemical composition is C12H22O11, which you can buy in shops as ‘pure cane’ sugar.”

Refined Sugar Is Fragmented
Through heating and mechanical and chemical processing, all vitamins, proteins, fats, enzymes and fiber – indeed, every single nutrient is removed until nothing but pure white sugar, pure ‘naked calories,’ pure refined carbohydrate remains.

Sixty-four food elements are destroyed in the processing. Fragmented foods like these set up nutritional imbalances that precipitate health problems galore.

Refined Sugar Is Highly Acidic
Like animal source foods and refined grains, refined sugar is also extremely ‘acid forming.’

In fact, refined sugar is possibly the most acidic substance one can consume. Soft drinks, which usually contain at least 10 teaspoons of refined sugar, have a pH between 2.8 and 3.5, making it the greatest source of acid we can place into our bodies.

In an effort to neutralize all of this acid, the body takes vital alkaline minerals, calcium being the most plentiful, from the body’s bone structure in an effort to neutralize the acidity. The acidity found in all animal source foods and refined grains cause the body to lose calcium as well.

This highly refined acidic sugar intake, along with the consumption of acidic animal and acidic grain source foods, causes the body to remove so much calcium from the bones and teeth that the bones become osteoporotic (porous) and teeth decay.

Refined Sugar Creates Blood Sugar Disorders
One pound of apples contains 263 calories, whereas one pound of candy contains 1800 calories.

Refined sugar is concentrated far beyond what the God-created human body was designed to process at one time, while the body processes the much smaller amount of natural sugar found in apples just fine.

If a body is going to survive, it must find a way to somehow cope with the incredibly high amounts of sugar found in refined sugar. The body learns how to cope with it, but in so doing, often creates two new physical problems – diabetes and hypoglycemia.

The primary cause of diabetes is the fat contained in animal products which coats the cells and hinders the insulin from entering the cell.

But when a diabetic consumes refined sugar, the pancreas has difficulty producing adequate insulin when the blood sugar rises. Concentrated amounts of sugar cause a rapid rise in blood sugar.

Chronic intake of refined sugar eventually exhausts the pancreas as it tries to compensate. Thus the diabetic is condemned to having to take ever-increasing amounts of insulin to compensate.

Diabetes is the #3 killer disease in America, preceded only by cardiovascular related problems and cancer.

Hypoglycemia is the flip side of diabetes. Hypoglycemia occurs when the body still has a fairly strong pancreas. The body overreacts to concentrated sugar intake and releases too much insulin from the pancreas. Blood sugar levels then plummet far below the normal stable level.

The suffering hypoglycemic often experiences fatigue, headaches; mental depression, and irritability.

Depression is often dealt with by the intake of more refined sugar, and so the hypoglycemic is caught in an endless cycle that causes the pancreas to wear out from constant over stimulation.

This often results in diabetes, because now the sufferer cannot produce sufficient insulin for normal metabolic activities.

Refined Sugar Promotes Emotional Instability
After a “sugarholic” has consumed a box of candy — or bag of cookies, or any large amount of refined sugar — they know how self-abused and depressed they feel.

Indeed, studies reveal a strong link between juvenile and adult criminal offenses and sugar addiction.

Similar research reveals a link between mental illness and sugar abuse. Hypoglycemic reactions, for the very sensitive consumer, promote extreme irrationality and emotional instability, which can lead to aggressiveness.

Studies reveal that sugar may be as involved in mental illness, divorce, and crime as alcohol has been found to be.

Refined sugar is one of the major contributing factors to depression!

ADD and ADHD are running rampant among our children and even some adults!

Isn’t it a paradox that these emotional problems, caused by a very toxic and poisonous addictive drug called refined sugar, are then treated with another poison — like Ritalin or Prozac!

How sad!

If your child is having a behavioral problem, why not consider removing all refined sugar in their diet instead?

Refined Sugar Contributes To Heart Disease
Animal fat is not the only contributing factor in heart disease.

Those on a highly refined sugar diet show significantly higher levels of fat in their blood than those who eat no refined sugar.

This high fat content in the blood is directly related to the development of plaque build-up within the arteries, then to hardening of the arteries, and ultimately to heart attacks and strokes.

Refined Sugar Leads To Addiction And Weight Gain
Refined sugar is highly caloric in its pure form.

But then it is often made worse by combining it with something containing high fat, like shortening, along with some salt.

This produces a tempting goodie like candy, cookies, cake, pie, fudge, a donut, or cinnamon bun.

Often these high sugar foods are consumed with a high calorie sugar drink, like soda pop.

All of this sugar contributes to weight gain.

If a person consumes just one 12-ounce can of soda pop a day for one year, that 10 teaspoons of sugar found in each can of soda could add 12 pounds to their weight in just one year.

When these excess calories are not burned for energy, they are stored as fat, contributing to the obesity epidemic we are seeing today among children and adults alike. Obesity is an underlying factor in not only cardiovascular disease but most other chronic diseases.

Furthermore, because of the way it plays havoc with emotions, refined sugar is highly addicting – it works exactly like a drug. This means that once a sugarholic sufferer has given into this crystalline sweetness, they can’t stop consuming.

Refined sugar is every bit as addictive as nicotine and alcohol and withdrawal from it can be as difficult as withdrawing from cocaine!

We have found that when a person decides to adopt The Hallelujah Diet, they usually do not have a great deal of difficulty eliminating the animal products, white flour products, table salt, or even caffeine (which is another addictive drug).

Many find that the most difficult substance to eliminate is refined sugar.

Sugar has a powerful addictive influence upon many people.

Have you ever noticed that children, who are allowed to have candy, are always asking for more?

They are never satisfied no matter how much you give them! This is because their little bodies have become addicted to sugar and their bodies are screaming for a fix.

NOTE – For those parents who would like to have a better understanding of how refined sugar is affecting their child’s behavior, I would like to recommend a book written by Barbara Reed Stitt titled: “Food and Behavior.”

Refined Sugar Compromises The Immune System
Let’s remember that the immune system is what God built into your body to protect you from the germs, viruses, and bacteria of this world.

The immune system is our first line of defense!

But refined sugar is an immune system suppressant — it knocks out this first line of defense.

That is why those who consume refined sugar find themselves susceptible to colds, the flu, and all sorts of other physical breakdowns, while those who consume The Hallelujah Diet, which contains no refined sugar, rarely if ever experiences a cold, the flu, or other physical breakdowns.

This editor hasn’t experienced a cold or the flu since eliminating refined sugar and adopting a primarily raw, plant-based diet over 35 years ago!

Don’t forget, God tells us we are going to reap what we sow…

“Be not deceived: God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

Sugar Contributes To Myriad Physical Problems
Refined sugar is associated with malnutrition and decreased resistance to disease.

Refined sugar impacts quality of life — it increases the severity of PMS; decreases cognitive or intellectual function, especially in children; contributes to heart disease and cancer; and so much more.

Following is just a partial list of other health problems related to the intake of refined sugar:

Addiction to drugs and caffeine
Behavioral problems
Binge eating
Bone loss
Difficulty concentrating
Emotional problems
Food cravings
Hormonal problems
Menstrual difficulties
Mental illness
Mood swings
Premature aging
… and the list goes on and on.
Refined sugar and products made with it become the cause or contributing cause of many of the physical problems being experienced today.

Refined sugar products are all dead, fiberless, and following animal source foods, are the second most popular of the deadly, killer foods of our day.

No wonder God says in Hosea 4:6:
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

Is it not a sad commentary, that instead of dealing with our physical problems by eliminating their causes, we deal with symptoms?

We take a poisonous medication instead. It will never fix the problem — but rather exacerbate it!

Almost every physical problem we experience in a lifetime, other than accidents, is because we have failed to nourish our physical bodies the way God intended in Genesis 1:29!

“AND GOD SAID, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed (vegetable), which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat (food).”
Genesis 1:29

The Amish Don’t Get Autism? And They Don’t Get Vaccinations – Possible Link?

People outside the alternative health community are often confused by the lack of autism in the Amish people. The Amish do not experience autism, or any of the other learning disabilities that plague our technological society. The Amish live in a society that consists of outdated technologies and ideals, by contemporary standards. Their diet consists of eating organic, fresh, locally-grown produce, and of course, they do not follow the established vaccination routines. To the dismay of the mainstream media and the medical establishment, this has resulted in a healthier people, that are void of all of our chronic diseases. Heart disease, cancer, and diabetes are virtually non-existent in Amish villages. Equally non-existent are modern, chemically-engineered medicines, enhanced (chemically-engineered) foods, G.M.O. foods, and of course, vaccines. How is it that those who are without the “miracles” of modern orthodox medicine are healthier? The truth about health, medicine, and how they both relate to the Amish is becoming an embarrassment to some rather powerful people.

There have been 3 (yes three) verified cases of autism in the Amish, and at least two of those children were vaccinated. No information is available for the third. The strong correlation between vaccinations and autism is absolutely undeniable, unless you work for the medical establishment, the government, or Big Media. Proponents of the status-quo claim that the Amish obviously have a special super gene that makes them immune to autism. They pathetically try to rationalize that autism is some type of genetic failure (i.e. God’s fault), which attacks a brain based on religious affiliation. We’re tentatively expecting a space alien theory next, in a similar vein to the aliens theory used to attack those who believe in a Creator. This is truly is F.D.A. and A.M.A. science in all its shining glory. Vaccine proponents are willing to espouse any ridiculous explanation, so long as they do not have to accept that their entire industry of vaccinations is causing chronic disease, leaving autism for 1 in every 100 children now.

When the Amish are simply left alone, to live free of chemical toxins found in our medicines and foods, they are not plagued with diseases, ing disabilities, or autism. They are categorically more intelligent, with the exception of advanced (college-level) writing skills, which is explainable by the fact that English is not their primary language. Could it be those same Amish ‘super genes’ at work again? Society could learn greatly from their example, if we would only stop poisoning ourselves, and our children on a routine basis.

The World’s Diet: Cause of Most Physical Problems

The Standard American Diet (SAD) — the diet most Christians consume each and every day of their life — is without any doubt, “The World’s Diet”. I can boldly make this statement because it stands in sharp contrast to what God told us we should eat:

“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed (vegetable), which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat (food).”
(Genesis 1:29)

Fruits, vegetables, seeds, and nuts are the foods God tells us we should eat and they are found exclusively in the garden. No question about it, these are the only foods God tells us we should nourish our bodies with!

But man has chosen to go outside of the garden to obtain his food.

These foods are what Hallelujah Acres refers to as the SAD diet. So if the SAD diet is not “God’s Diet”, whose diet is it? Rhonda likes to call it “Satan’s Alternative Diet” (SAD), because it is in such stark contrast to what God told us we should eat in Genesis 1:29.

Thus the Standard American Diet clearly qualifies for not only being called the “World’s Diet” but also “Satan’s Diet”.

Does the Bible have anything to say about this “World’s SAD Diet” and “Satan’s Alternative Diet”? Absolutely!

Be Not Conformed To This World

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
(Romans 12:2)

Now some might question that this verse in Romans 12:2 has anything to do with what we eat and how we nourish our physical bodies, so I will now quote the verse that precedes it to see if this verse sheds any light on what is being referred to here:

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
(Romans 12:1)

Clearly, Romans 12:2 is directing these instructions to Christians (“brethren”) and is clearly referring to what we have just read in Romans 12:1, because the very first word in Romans 12:2 is the word “And”, which means it is continuing instruction regarding how we are to “present our bodies . . . acceptable unto God.”

There are numerous “so called” nutritional authorities in our society today, some even claiming to be Christian, who promote a diet that includes foods found outside the garden (animal source foods in particular).

What does God have to say about our physical bodies and the teachings of these “so-called” nutritional authorities?

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God (by placing into it harmful substances), him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.”
(1 Corinthians 16-19)

The Standard American Diet – Analyzed
This week I want to begin an analysis of this “world’s diet” which I will refer to as the Standard American Diet (SAD) for the remainder of this article.

But this diet is more than just the Standard American Diet…

…it’s the Standard Canadian Diet.

…the Standard Australian Diet.

…the Standard South African Diet, etc.

In fact, this SAD diet is basically the same diet consumed in most western nations and even many non-western nations today.

This is why there is little difference in the health of the people who adopt this diet no matter what country they live in.

So what’s wrong with the SAD diet?

Why is it so dangerous and destructive to our health?

Let’s start with fiber.

SAD Diet Is A Fiberless Diet

God designed our bodies to function optimally on a diet that contains foods very high in fiber content. This may come as a shock to you, but the SAD diet is almost totally void of any fiber, while the “GOD” diet (God’s Original Diet, Genesis 1:29) is extremely high in fiber.

In fact, garden foods are the only foods that contain fiber.

Fiberless Diets Cause Constipation

Constipation is a serious issue for an extremely high percentage of those on the world’s SAD fiberless diet.

Eighty percent of all Americans experience constipation problems at one time or another and some experience chronic constipation. The reason: – without fiber, peristalsis is seriously hindered.

Peristalsis is the contraction and relaxation of muscles which propel food contents by means of waves through the gastrointestinal tract.

On the SAD fiberless diet, lack of fiber hinders peristaltic movement of the food through the digestive tract. That is why doctors recommend laxatives for a person experiencing constipation problems, while others encourage adding daily fiber to compensate for the fiberless diet they are consuming.

God’s Original Diet (GOD), the one God told us we should all consume in Genesis 1:29, is loaded with fiber. When a person converts from the world’s SAD diet to GOD’s diet, constipation problems almost always cease and as long as they stay on the GOD diet, they will not experience constipation ever again.

There Is More To Learn About Fiber
Between where food enters our body at the mouth and where it exits the body as feces, it must pass through approximately 30 feet of tubing. This tubing (the digestive tract) has many pockets, loops, and bends.

To move food rapidly without putrefying requires fiber. When a person consumes a diet comprised exclusively of fiber-rich garden source foods, like The Hallelujah Diet, the food moves very rapidly through the digestive tract, completing the 30-foot journey in about 16-20 hours.

In contrast, foods that are devoid of fiber move very sluggishly through that 30-feet of tubing, taking up to 3-4 days to exit.

Foods that are lacking fiber would include almost everything the average person on the SAD diet consumes each and every day.

For instance, all animal source foods (including flesh and dairy) contain absolutely no fiber.

All refined grains, including refined flour, refined white and brown table sugars, table salt, etc. are devoid of fiber.

SAD-ly, these are the foods that comprise the majority of the world’s diet.

Carnivorous Animal’s Intestinal Tract Compared To Humans
The length of the human digestive tract is approximately three times longer than that of a carnivorous animal and consists of many pockets, loops and bends.

A carnivorous animal’s intestinal tract is very smooth and without any pockets, loops, or bends.

There is a reason for this great difference.

When consumed by a carnivorous animal, the fiberless, unchewed chunks of raw flesh pass quickly into a very strong solution of hydrochloric acid where the flesh is broken down into a form the animal can utilize for its nutritional needs.

The waste is rapidly eliminated before it has opportunity to putrefy.

When humans consume animal flesh, because it contains no fiber, it moves very sluggishly through our 30-foot-long digestive tract, complete with its pockets, loops, and bends.

It can take as long as 3-4 days for animal flesh to make the journey through the human body!

Something worth noting here is the internal temperature of the human physical body – is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

Raw Hamburger At 100 Degrees
If you left a pound of ground beef on your kitchen counter, cranked the thermostat to 100 degrees, closed the kitchen door and left for 3 to 4 days, you would return to discover a terrible odor.

What do you think could be causing that terrible odor?

It is the odor of the putrefying and rotting flesh that has been sitting in that 100 degree temperature for the previous 3-4 days.

If flesh putrefies and rots on the kitchen counter in a 100 degree atmosphere, what do you think animal flesh does on its 3 to 4 day journey through your digestive tract at the same temperature?

It putrefies! And the stench escapes through the pores in your skin — most people do not realize that the body odor they are experiencing is the end result of placing flesh foods into their body.

Incidentally, this editor has had no need of a deodorant since he stopped consuming animal flesh 36 years ago.

Consuming animal flesh produces many other problems besides body odor.

Almost all digestive tract problems are the result of consuming fiberless animal flesh foods – diverticulitis, diverticulosis, crohn’s disease, colitis, ulcerative colitis, Irritable Bowl Syndrome (IBS), and even colon cancer.

And a person who tries to be careful about consuming only grass fed, organically grown animal flesh has the same potential of developing these intestinal problems, because organic flesh is just as lacking in fiber and dangerous as commercially grown flesh.

By contrast, it is almost impossible for a person on a 100% plant based diet to experience any of these animal flesh related problems.

How Human Digestion Works
God’s plan for the proper nourishment of the human physical body is the consumption of plant-sourced foods.

When plant-based, fiber-rich foods move through the human body’s 30-foot digestive tract, they digest quickly (in 30 to 90 minutes). Propelled by the fiber, these foods complete their digestive journey in just 16-20 hours.

The most dangerous diets today are low carb, high protein diets. Some justify this type of diet using Genesis 9:3 as proof that God “changed” his mind about man’s diet after the flood, allowing him to eat foods of animal origin.

But was the animal flesh allowance in Genesis 9:3 meant to supersede God’s original diet in Genesis 1:29?

Note that the Genesis 9:3 diet was given only after all plant foods had been destroyed by the flood in Genesis chapter 7 and notice particularly verse 19:

“And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were COVERED.” (Genesis 7:19) “And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.” (Genesis 7:24)

I personally believe that Genesis 9:3’s allowance of flesh foods was only for survival purposes because all plant source foods had been destroyed by the flood.

I do not believe that Genesis 9:3 was meant as new instruction as to how man was to nourish his body — just look at all the great harm animal source foods cause the human body.

Dr. T. Colin Campbell, in his book, “The China Project” concludes, after the most comprehensive research project ever undertaken by the scientific community on the relationship of diet to disease:

“Only small intakes of animal products were associated with significant increases in chronic degenerative disease.”

Another book containing incredible scientific documentation showing the dangers of animal source foods is John Robbins’ book, “Diet for A New America”.

And then there is Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s book, “Eat to Live”. Dr. Fuhrman, using a basically raw plant foods diet and the elimination of all animal source foods, is seeing almost 100% of his 5,000 annual patients healed of whatever physical problems they were experiencing.

Here at Hallelujah Acres we have received tens-of-thousands of testimonies from people who eliminated all animal source foods and adopted a 100%, predominately raw, plant-based diet, reporting they have recovered from over 170 different physical problems, including diverticulitis, diverticulosis, crohn’s disease, colitis, ulcerative colitis, Irritable Bowl Symptom (IBS), and even colon cancer.

If this would happen, we could almost totally eliminate prayers for physical healing of disease within the church and we could devote those prayers to the saving of the lost. Also, all the money saved trying to recover from these diseases could provide more money to support missions.

How The Standard American Diet Destroys Our Health

If we are going to restore our health “God’s way” we must stop nourishing our body’s the “world’s way”.

For the first 42 years of my life I nourished my body the “world’s way.” As a result, I suffered numerous physical problems, culminating with colon cancer at age 42.

After being told I had cancer, I stopped nourishing my body the world’s way and began nourishing my body God’s way on the advice of evangelist Lester Roloff.

The result: My cancer quickly disappeared, without any medical intervention, and I stopped getting sick.

It has been 36 years since I stopped nourishing my body the world’s way and I am still experiencing excellent health only a few years from my 80th birthday.

I have already outlived both my parents by 13 years (they both ate the world’s diet) — and I am only five years from outliving my longest living ancestor that I am aware of.

Do I believe it is diet that has and is making the difference? ABSOLUTELY!

What’s Wrong With What People Eat Today

Almost everything a person eats today is contrary to what God designed our physical bodies to be nourished with and what science reveals we should be eating if we want to avoid disease and experience health (read The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell).

Dr. Campbell has done more research on the relationship of diet to disease than any other researcher in history. His book reveals how the world’s diet is the cause of almost every physical problem we experience and how God’s diet, as revealed in Genesis 1:29, will not only prevent sickness but restore health to most who adopt it.

Sadly, Satan’s subtle attacks come in various forms, sometimes even creating confusion among leaders in the alternative health field. These leaders go against abundant scientific research and undeniable clinical experience of Dr. Campbell, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, among others. In so doing, they condemn God’s Genesis 1:29 way of nourishing our God created bodies.

In addition to what Dr. Campbell’s research reveals, tens of thousands of people have written me over the past 20 years to report that when they stopped consuming the world’s diet, and began nourishing their bodies God’s way, over 170 different physical problems disappeared and they didn’t get sick anymore.

Are you aware that God wants His children to be in health?

“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and BE IN HEALTH, even as thy soul prospereth.”
(3 John 2)

However, even though it is clear that God wants His people to “be in health” they are not. Here is an example of just how sick our generation is…

Let’s Take A Look At The Health of People Today

Here are some statistics from the Statistical Abstract of the United States, as published by the U. S. Department of Commerce:

Cardiovascular diseases affect 80% of all Americans
33% of all Americans develop cancer
Over 6.5 million Americans suffer with diabetes
77% of the adult population suffers with arthritis and rheumatic disorders
Over 25 million suffer from asthma, bronchitis or emphysema
15 million suffer from ulcers
10 million are migraine sufferers
Over 50% suffer chronic digestive disorders
80 million suffer from allergies
22 million suffer mental illness’
98% have bad teeth and 31 million have no teeth of their own
70% are overweight and 80 million are classified as obese
Nearly 90% of our children cannot pass a minimum physical fitness test

The World’s Diet Is A Weapon of Mass Destruction

Following is an interesting verse in the bible concerning the word “weapon.”

“Wisdom is better than weapons of war.” (Ecclesiastes 9:18)

Most Christians realize that we have an “adversary” whom the Bible refers to as “the devil”:

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
(1 Peter 5:8)

One of this adversary’s primary functions is to frustrate and if possible, destroy the work of the Lord.

I personally believe that one of devil’s greatest tools is to weaken and prematurely destroy the physical bodies (temples) of God’s people. He does this so that they cannot effectively do the work of the Lord and fulfill the ministry to which God has called them.

What better way to do this than to get God’s people to consume foods that are harmful to their physical bodies!

If we go back to the book of Genesis, we will see the devil used food as a means of frustrating God’s plan over 6,000 years ago, right there in the Garden of Eden, when Eve ate something God had said should not be eaten:

“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying; Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest therof thou shalt surely die.”
(Genesis 2:16-17)

By eating something God said should not be eaten, sin entered the world, man was banished from the Garden, separated from God, and had to earn his “bread” (food) by the sweat of his brow.”

But God, in His great love, for us provided a means of restoring man to a right relationship with Him through his Son, Jesus Christ:

“But when the fullness of time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. . . . Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in BONDAGE.”
(Galatians 4:4-9)

Christians Are In Bondage To The World’s Diet

The Standard American Diet (SAD) most people consume is the world’s diet, which stands in stark contrast to God’s diet as revealed in Genesis 1:29.

And truly, the world’s diet is a weapon of mass destruction evidenced by the poor health of the Christian community and the constant prayers for the healing by God’s people.

If you are a Christian, you KNOW we have an “adversary” – The Bible refers to our adversary as the “devil” in I Peter 5:8 as referenced above.

But do you realize there is a second part to that verse? It is to this second part of the verse I want to call our attention next: “Whom RESIST steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”

Again, one of the adversary’s primary functions is to frustrate and, if possible, destroy the work of the Lord. We see this all too often when a pastor or missionary or one of God’s servants develops cancer as a result of eating the world’s diet, and then dies after pursuing the world’s medical system in an attempt to restore their health.

Our Physical Bodies Are God’s Temples
One of the devil’s greatest tools is to weaken and prematurely destroy the physical bodies of believers. Are you aware scriptures refer to our body as “the TEMPLE” of the Holy Ghost”?

“What? Know ye not that YOUR BODY IS THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY GHOST which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
(1 Corinthians 6:19)

The Bible also tells us that we should “glorify God in our body . . . .”

Friend, we cannot glorify God in our body when we place things into our body that will destroy it, and that is exactly what the Standard American Diet (SAD) does.

And another thing… If you are a Christian, your body no longer belongs to you, but rather it was purchased by God and became His property when you accepted Him who loved you and gave Himself a ransom for you.

“Who will have all men to be saved, and come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all.”
(1 Timothy 2:4-6)

Now when we “defile the temple” (the physical body) the Bible tells us that there are consequences:

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”
(1 Corinthians 3:16-17)

And now for the climax to what I have been trying to say:

“Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.”
(1 Corinthians 3:17-18)

The Standard American Diet (SAD), the world’s diet, is being used by the devil not only to deceive the believer as to what they should eat, but this same diet is what causes almost every physical and even psychological problem we experience. It is the cause of almost every problem we pray for fellow Christians to be healed of.

This diet is also the very thing that shortens our lives and ministries. It causes so many Christians to leave this world prematurely — before they have completed the ministry God has called them to.

This senseless and unnecessary destruction of the physical bodies of God’s children needs to cease.

Is There Any Hope?

Thirty-six years ago there was a Baptist evangelist in Texas by the name of Lester Roloff who for years had been trying the get Christians and preachers alike to get off the world’s diet and to adopt God’s diet.

His efforts were not appreciated.

In fact his efforts were met with great opposition and ridicule by many fellow preachers.

I knew Brother Roloff and was aware of his efforts to get Christians to change their diets, and I was also aware of the criticism he had received because I had joined in that criticism.

But now I needed help with my cancer and so I turned to Brother Roloff for advice as to how I could get rid of my cancer without drugs, radiation or surgery.

At his advice, I stopped putting the world’s diet into my body, started eating God’s diet, and soon my cancer started to go away.

Within a year my cancer was totally gone.

This healing caused me to do some scriptural research. It wasn’t long before I realized that God had given man a diet in Genesis 1:29.

I like to call it the “GOD” Diet, which stands for “God’s Original Diet”.

Not long after that, God led me to begin a ministry called “Hallelujah Acres” a ministry that teaches health from a biblical perspective.

Today, millions around the world have adopted The Hallelujah Diet which is based on God’s Original (Genesis 1:29) Diet.

As a result of eliminating the world’s diet and adopting God’s diet, tens of thousands around the world have written to report that after making the diet change they have recovered from over 170 different physical and psychological problems and they don’t get sick anymore.

Surprise: The latest research shows you can be overweight and fit, and thin but carrying too much fat.

Leah Dawson is unhealthy—at least that's what public health guidelines would have you believe. The 41-year-old mother of three, who manages her husband's athletic career (he's Olympic skier Toby Dawson), works out four days a week and carefully monitors her diet. Her cholesterol and blood pressure are enviable. But never mind all that: Leah Dawson is considered "unhealthy" because at 5'8", her weight has hovered near 170 pounds. That puts her at 26 BMI (body mass index—the height-to-weight formula doctors use to diagnose weight problems), which is in the overweight category. "My doctor would tell me that I needed to lose weight," she says. "My lab work would come out fine; I've even passed a stress test. But I'm never 'okay.'"

Thirty-nine-year-old Teresa Holler, on the other hand, is considered "healthy." As a physician assistant, Holler knows she needs to monitor her weight. But after a tough pregnancy six years ago, she slowed down her normally rigorous exercise program. Initially, the trim 5'3", 128-pound, size-5 Holler wasn't too concerned: Her BMI remained at 23, putting her in the healthy range of 18.5 to 24.9. Still, she began to worry that something was amiss. "I felt like I was getting this ring of fat around my midsection," she says. "And I was just less energetic." This led her to request a body-fat test from her doctor. She was shocked to find the amount of fat she was carrying on her diminutive frame—30 percent—qualified her as borderline obese, dramatically elevating her risk for diabetes and heart disease. "Here I was, spending my days telling other people how to get healthy, and I'd missed this," she remembers.

Health experts have been too strict with heavy people like Dawson and too lax with normal-weight people like Holler: Researchers at the Mayo Clinic have found that about half of American adults in the normal-body-weight category still have too much body fat—and given that these people also tend to have many of the risk factors associated with heart disease, that assessment is probably correct. "I'm a cardiologist, and I was seeing too many patients whose BMI checked out as normal but who didn't look right," says Francisco Lopez-Jimenez, MD, the Mayo doctor who headed the study. "Some had a big belly, some had low muscle mass. And they had high blood sugar and cholesterol. It became clear to me that the measurements we were using weren't working for these people."

How risky is it for a normal-weight person to carry too much fat? The answer lies in the way the body stores the stuff. "All fat isn't created equal," says Timothy Church, MD, PhD, a professor at Louisiana State University's Pennington Biomedical Research Center. "The deeply deposited kind—visceral fat—produces three times more bad chemicals than other types, and it drains directly into your liver."

Visceral fat bulks up the trunk of the body, and it has been directly tied to increased risk of diabetes and heart disease. (People who carry fat on the hips and thighs seem to have a lower risk.) Importantly, visceral fat tends to be the type normal-weight people have. It sneaks up on a person because it's not especially visible and it can build up without altering weight—replacing muscle that is naturally lost with aging. And that stealthy buildup of fat may help explain the results of a 2005 study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA): Researchers analyzed mortality data of people in different weight categories, from underweight to obese, and found that there were fewer deaths among overweight people than those in the normal-weight group.

That finding may come as quite a shock for Americans, who have had it drilled into them that being heavy will take years off their lives. But evidence to the contrary has been mounting, and a 2008 report on the U.S. population published in the journal Archives of Internal Medicine made the issue impossible to ignore: Half of Americans who are in the overweight BMI category and a third of those in the obese one (30 or greater BMI) are actually healthy—they have plenty of "good" cholesterol, normal blood pressure and glucose levels, and no other risk markers for heart disease.

"In other research I was doing, I was seeing a lot of people who were heavy but fine," says MaryFran Sowers, PhD, a professor of epidemiology at the University of Michigan who co-authored the study. "What was surprising about the study results was that the number of healthy overweight people was so prevalent."

Lopez-Jimenez agrees. "We've long assumed that all people who are overweight have a lot of fat, and that people with normal weight have less fat and more muscle," he says. "We now know that's not always true. There are fewer unhealthy overweight people out there, and many more at-risk normal-weight ones than we thought." In other words, BMI is an imperfect standard. A simple height-versus-weight number can't account for how a person is built, lean or stocky, big breasted or not.

So if BMI is flawed, what is the best predictor of who is healthy and who isn't? In Sowers's study, there was one reliable answer. People who qualified as heavy but still healthy tended to report being physically active. Indeed, her study isn't the first to note this. Findings published in JAMA in 2007 indicate that fitness level—regardless of weight—is the single strongest predictor of mortality risk. People with the lowest level of fitness were four times more likely to die than those with the highest. Longevity didn't require superhuman effort, either; people who could pass a minimal fitness test of walking for longer than five and a half minutes on a treadmill had half the risk of an early death as those who failed the challenge.

Taking all the new findings together, the lesson is that even at 170 pounds, Leah Dawson had it right: Eat a good diet and drop any unhealthy habits you might have. Then focus on exercise and forget about striving toward some standardized ideal of weight. "Fitness is the critical piece we're losing sight of," says Church. "People get so caught up with weight—they start to exercise, the scale doesn't move, and they get discouraged. They're not noticing that their pants fit differently, that they've actually lost dangerous visceral fat. When you become active, you're not just adding muscle, you're getting healthier." And that's what will help you live longer.

Raw Sunflower Seed / Lemon Dressing recipe

Raw Sunflower Seed / Lemon Dressing
This recipe was sent in by Kathie who lives in California: "Here is a totally raw, whole foods, salad dressing that can also be used as a mayonnaise, dip, sour cream, or a tartar sauce by reducing the amount of water a little to make it thicker."

2 1/2 cups distilled water
1 1/2 cups raw, hulled, Sunflower seeds
1 teaspoon Celtic Sea Salt (or to taste)
2 teaspoons Paprika
2 teaspoons Onion Powder (or flakes)
2 Lemons (juice from)
1 clove fresh Garlic (minced)

The secret to a fine dressing is letting the above ingredients blend in a strong blender (Vita Mix) for quite awhile until very creamy. Sometimes I substitute fresh basil and dill (or parsley) for the paprika. It then turns out a pale green instead of a pale paprika color. This dressing is very healthy because it has no free oils, cholesterol, hydrogenated fats, vinegar, sugar, or cooked ingredients. This recipe is really GUILT FREE, and is the recipe I use more than any other."

Quinoa-Black Bean Casserole recipe

I found this recipe by googling black beans and quinoa. It's great, but I used butternut squash instead of sweet potato (bcs I had some on hand), less cumin, and you really need to cook the quinoa by itself in water before adding the other stuff; it does not seem to really puff up otherwise. Also, the cheese is optional.

Stepf's Quinoa-Black Bean Casserole

This recipe came about because I had just made vegetable enchiladas and had leftovers, plus quinoa from earlier in the week. Thankfully, this experiment yielded a hearty, delicious meal.

I cooked up a batch of dried beans that I seasoned with onions, garlic, chiles and spices. If you use canned beans, you might need more spices. Try adding Chef Meg's Taco Seasoning.

Serve this with steamed broccoli or wilted spinach and a dollop of light sour cream or plain Greek yogurt.

40 Minutes to Prepare and Cook


1 cup dry quinoa
1 cup salsa
2 eggs
1 cup shredded low-fat cheddar cheese
2 cups shredded sweet potato (use a box grater or a food processor)
3 cups black beans (or 2 cans, drained and rinsed)
1 T ground cumin
Liberal pinches salt and pepper


Cook quinoa according to package directions.

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Mix quinoa, black beans, sweet potato, half the cheese and the cumin in a large bowl. In a small bowl, mix the eggs and the salsa, then pour over the vegetables. Pour all ingredients into a 9x9 casserole dish coated with nonstick cooking spray.
Sprinkle on remaining cheese and bake for 30 minutes, uncovered.

Veggie Chickpea Burgers with Tahini Sauce recipe

These are yummy! I used less cayenne pepper than recipe calls for and they were still a little spicy. Use it according to your tolerance for spice.

Chickpea Burgers with Tahini Sauce

(delicious♥ you don't have to be a vegetarian or vegan to enjoy these ultra-YUMMY, ultra-nutritious, low-fat burgers):

1 15-ounce can chickpeas (or 1 1/2 cups cooked), drained and rinsed
1 yellow onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
2 tablespoons tahini
1 1/2 to 2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup plain bread crumbs
4 buns or pita pockets

♥Heat the oven to 400 degrees.
♥Pulse the chickpeas in a food processor until thick and pasty. (You may mash them by hand, but it is a little more labor- intensive and time- consuming.) Transfer to a medium- size bowl.
♥To the bowl, add the onion, garlic, parsley, tahini, cumin, coriander, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, lemon juice, and baking powder. Slowly add the bread crumbs until the mixture holds together. Add more bread crumbs, as needed. Shape into patties.
♥Place on a nonstick cookie sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until golden brown on the bottom. Using a spatula, flip each patty over, and cook for 10–12 minutes more until the other side is golden brown. Remove from the oven. Alternatively, you may fry the patties with a little oil in a pan on the stovetop.
♥While the burgers are cooking, make the tahini sauce, below.
♥Notes: If your chickpeas seem too dry to form a paste, try adding water by the tablespoon until they become more “sticky.” If your burgers still don’t hold together, try pulsing the mixture a few times in the food processor.

Two ways to do everything: the world's way and God's way. Which way are you choosing to take care of your health?

Is There A Better Way?

America, though it spends more money per capita on “Health Care” than any other nation on Earth, is close to being the sickest nation on Earth!

More money is spent on health care in the USA than in any other nation in the world, and a greater percentage of total income in the nation is spent on health care in the USA than in any United Nations member state.

The World Health Organization (WHO), in 2000, ranked the U.S. health care system as the highest in cost, 37th in overall performance, and 72nd in overall level of health.

In 2009, the United States federal, state and local governments, corporations, and individuals, together spent $2.5 trillion on health care. That amount breaks down to $8,047 for every man, woman, and child in the country each year. This amount represented 17.3% of the GDP in 2008.

Health insurance costs are rising faster than wages or inflation, and medical causes were cited by about half of bankruptcy filers in the United States in 2001.

How Is This Health Care System Working For You?
With National Health Care having been signed into law and with the constantly increasing cost of health care, are we getting the results and seeing the improved health promised by our current government?

Of course, the answer is a resounding “NO”!

If any business in the business world provided such poor results, it would go out of business. But not the health care business. The worse the results being obtained, the higher the cost, and the more it thrives.

Is there not something wrong with this picture?

Yet our government continues to subsidize this failed industry with tax payer dollars (yours and mine) which will force every citizen, whether they pay taxes or not, or want to be a part of it or not, into this failed system.

From where I sit, I am constantly receiving emails from people who have given this system every opportunity to fix their broken bodies — but their results prove the current health care system’s efforts are a dismal failure.

Letters Tell of Health Care Failures
“Good morning Rev. Malkmus, I am so up to my ears in trying to feel better. I have been dealing with health issues since 2003. Here’s a quick rundown on what happened to me:

In 2003 I took a drug for what the doctor said was a bladder infection. I took only one drug ‘Floxin’, one pill, one time, and that one pill has destroyed my life. I ceased being that happy active mom and wife. I have spent the past eight years looking for help from the medical community.

I’m so tired of going to doctors looking for answers and finding none that I could scream. This one pill, taken only one time, has affected my whole central nervous system. “Dr. Malkmus, My 57-year old husband has advanced stage 4 prostate cancer with bone metastasis. He was sent home in November 2010 to die as the doctors said there was nothing more they could do for him.

Over the years and especially since last fall I have encouraged him to go vegan but it was not an easy sell despite the fact that we are both ordained ministers. We should have been eating to live – not the opposite as the world is doing, living to eat – and we have repented.

In January 2011 I did convince him to begin vegetable juicing and it started to turn around his cancer. His PSA fell from 348 to 112. However, he still insisted on some animal products and as a result in April his PSA started to rise again.

We are both on leave from ministry at this time as he is very ill. His left side, especially his left leg is losing circulation. The doctors want to give him more radiation but he says ‘no’.

I have just completed Dr. Campbell’s three online courses from Cornell on plant based nutrition and one of my instructors directed me to you and the Hallelujah Acres website. I really thank you for all you are doing in the field of biblical nutrition. I am astonished by all that I have learned.

We both lost our first spouses to cancer. My first husband and the father of my two children died at age 33 of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Now my second husband has terminal cancer. I believe God has a nutritional ministry in mind for the two of us once he recovers.”

In My Seminars…
In my seminars I will often ask questions of those attending. Here are a few of those questions that I ask:

How many of you have had a friend, loved one, or family member who was diagnosed with cancer?

Almost every hand in the room goes up. Then I ask how many of those who had cancer died after being treated for their cancer. It is hard sometimes to see much difference between the numbers of those who had cancer and those who died following cancer treatment.
How many of you, or a friend, family member, or loved one were prescribed a drug for the physical problem being experienced?

The response is almost 100% of those present.
How many had an adverse reaction to a doctor prescribed drug?

Once again, almost every hand was raised.
How many of you, or a friend, family member, or loved one was cured of the physical problem they were given the drug to correct to the extent they no longer had need of that drug?

Hardly ever does a hand get raised.
The Two Letters Above
For a moment, let’s reflect on the two letters above and the results to the questions I ask in my seminars to see how they compare.

In the letter from Marilyn, both her spouse and her husband’s spouse died following cancer treatment and now her current husband is in such critical condition after medical treatments, they have sent him home to die.

Is that not the same results indicated by the show of hands when I asked in my seminar “How many have a friend, loved one, or family member who was diagnosed with cancer?”

And when I asked “How many of those died after treatment,” did not it produce the same results as Marilyn and her husband experienced with their first spouses?

Now consider Jackie’s reaction after taking just one pill one time. Not only did it not correct the problem but produced new symptoms that have destroyed her life for the past eight years.

Isn’t that similar to results expressed by the thousands of people in my seminars who have not seen their physical problem cured as a result of taking a drug?

The World’s Way
What I have shared above is the world’s way of dealing with physical problems!

I find it so amazing that the world’s approach to physical problems today produces no better results than the results the doctors of the Bible 2,000 years ago:

“And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse.” (Mark 5:25-6)

Friends, the result people obtained going the world’s way in Bible times is the same today when they go the world’s way in their attempt to correct physical problems.

So the logical question one must ask is: “Is there a better way?”

Thankfully there is indeed a better way — God’s way!

God’s Way
Let’s see if the Bible can shed some light on the subject…

God Created Man – “AND THE LORD GOD formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (Genesis 2:7)

God Placed Man In A Garden – “AND THE LORD GOD planted a garden eastward in Eden: and there he put the man whom he had formed.” (Genesis 2:8)

God Told Man What To Eat – “AND GOD SAID, Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed (vegetable), which is upon the face of the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seek; to you it shall be for meat.” (Genesis 1:29)

Man Charged With Taking Care Of His Own Body – “I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable UNTO GOD, which is your reasonable service.” (Romans 12:1)

Man Told Not To Pursue The World’s Way – “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect WILL OF GOD.” (Romans 12:2)

Consequences Of Going The World’s Way – “Be not deceived, GOD IS NOT MOCKED, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)

So we have messed up! We Christians have been following the “world’s way” instead of God’s way in how we take care of our physical bodies. We have consumed the world’s food and drink, and as a result have become sick, gone to the world’s doctors to get better, taken the world’s drugs, and suffer the same physical and emotional breakdowns as the world and to the same percentages.

Is It Too Late To Change?
For most people it is not too late to change and correct the results they have obtained by doing things the “world’s way.” In fact, almost every physical problem presently being experiencing can be corrected by ceasing to feed the body the world’s way and by starting to nourish it God’s way if the world’s way” has not already done irreversible damage.

How Prayer Can Hinder The Healing of God’s People

This week I want to deal with a similar subject; but first let’s take a brief look at how most churches deal with sickness.

How Churches Deal With Sickness

I personally pastored various churches for nearly 20 years up until I was told I had colon cancer at age 42 (36 years-ago). I know how I personally dealt with sickness in the various churches I pastored back then. Guess what? It’s still the way most pastors and churches deal with sickness today.

In my churches, especially on prayer meeting night, after the people had opportunity to share their prayer requests, we would have prayer for those sick individuals. Also, when people would come up to me individually and share that they or a loved one was seriously ill, I would immediately stop and have prayer for that sick one.

However, by asking God to heal that person of their infirmities, in reality, we are turning over to God any responsibility the person has for dealing with the physical problem themselves.

What kind of results are we getting in response to these prayers for healing in our churches?

Be honest, now…

Why Are So Many Not Receiving Healing In Answer To Prayer?
In most churches, requests for healing of physical problems are the dominant prayer request – usually over 90%.

Does everyone for whom we pray get well in response to these prayers?

Don’t get me wrong. I believe that the Bible is the very word of God (see II Timothy 3:16-17). I also believe that the God of the Bible is also a prayer hearing and answering God. “Call unto me and I will answer thee . . .” (Jeremiah 33:3).

During my pastoring years in both large and small congregations, numerous people asked for prayer for the physical needs of themselves, a friend or loved one. Not only would I earnestly beseech God for healing in prayer on their behalf, but I would also share these prayer requests with the congregation for additional prayer.

Sadly, there were numerous times when the congregation and I would pray earnestly for someone’s healing, especially for a seriously ill child or someone with cancer, and yet I ended up conducting that person’s funeral.

How can we explain this?

Is it God’s fault healing did not take place or ……

Could Prayer Sometimes Hinder The Healing Of God’s People?
There is a song we used to sing in our church, and one of the verses goes like this:

If your body suffers pain and your health you can’t regain,
And your soul is almost sinking in despair,
Jesus knows the pain you feel, He can save and He can heal;
Take your burden to the Lord and LEAVE IT THERE.

I believe one of the primary reasons prayers for healing so often do not result in healing is because that is exactly what we do, we “Take our burden to the Lord and LEAVE IT THERE.”

Could our leaving our burden with the Lord present a problem?

Could this hinder healing?

If we want to obtain healing from our numerous infirmities, we need to do more than just ask God to heal us – we must also seek His guidance as to what part He would have us play in that healing.

We have already learned that prayers and faith in so many instances are not sufficient to bring about healing and here’s why…

“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works” shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead.” (James 2:17-20)

Now I believe God is capable of healing our physical problems in answer to a prayer without any help from us.

But obviously, when we see so many of those for whom we prayed not receiving healing (and dying), we need to seek the reason “WHY”.

And that reason my friend, I believe, is that God usually wants us to participate and become active in the bringing about of that healing.

Sadly, our churches do not teach us to go beyond “taking our burdens to the Lord and leaving them there”.

When we desire healing for ourselves or another, our prayer should not just be, “Lord heal me” or “them”, but rather: “Lord, please reveal to me the knowledge I need, that will put me on the path to bring about the healing I am praying for.”

The Bible even tells us how to obtain that knowledge:

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8)

My Personal Experience
Way back in 1976 I was told I had colon cancer. But I had lost all faith in the medical community to heal my cancer because of my mother’s horrible experience going the medical route.

Not to mention, God had not answered my prayers for her healing.

So, I changed my approach.

I asked the Lord to show me where to turn for help in my healing.

In answer to that prayer, the Lord led me to Evangelist Lester Roloff who encouraged me to change my diet to what we call today “The Hallelujah Diet.”

The knowledge Brother Roloff imparted to me not only led to the healing of my cancer, but also led to the founding of Hallelujah Acres. So, essentially, that prayer for direction has resulted in health restoration for millions of Christians around the world, removing all manner of both physical and psychological problems for the past 20 years.

If we desire to stop seeing all those prayer request sheets in our churches loaded with people dealing with cancer and numerous other physical problems…

If we desire to stop seeing them die and attending their funerals…

Then we the church must do more than just pray for a person’s healing.

The church must also inform people that the sick person needs to become an active participant in their own healing by asking: “Lord what must I do to help bring about this healing I am seeking?”

It is so thrilling to receive letters from people who approached their healing this way. These letters testify that, after being prayed for in the church and not receiving healing, the pastor or another member of the church encouraged that person to investigate The Hallelujah Diet.

And when they did, it put them on the path that led them to the healing they were seeking!

How Faith In Modern Medicine Can Hinder The Healing Of God’s People
In our churches, after prayer, what is the very next thing a person is advised to do by the pastor and most everyone else in the church?

Is it not, “you need to get to a doctor”?

By going to a doctor, we are actually saying, “I do not believe God is capable of bringing about the healing and God needs help.”

This act indicates that we do not have faith in God’s ability to heal us, and that we believe the modern medicine is God’s source of help.

But how is modern medicine doing?

Is it bringing about the healing we so desire? Or are we still, in spite of it all, watching people continue to get sicker and eventually dying?
